Hello and welcome to my World of Words!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Karina Asper. Right now I think of myself as a woman, mother, wife, and a writer… The order depends on the way I feel at the moment, where and who I am with.
I am a mother of four children, ages nineteen, fourteen, and nine-year-old twins, besides a wife to a caring man who helps me raise our children. Our dog Reno was the last addition to the family two years ago. We live in a beautiful house surrounded by trees and woods in a small town in Pennsylvania. All the children are unique in their own way and bring me a lot of joy—but also worry and sorrow sometimes. (Let’s be honest here, being a parent is not an easy job!)
Family is just a part of my life. In my free time I love to read, practice yoga, and walk with my dog. I enjoy a good meal at home or in a nice restaurant. I enjoy music and all types of art. I believe in friendships and make sure to take time to nurture them.
The twins have special needs, which became a reason why I turned my life around. Two years ago, I left the corporate world to become a stay-at-home mom.
But how did I get where I am now?
I was born and raised in Poland, and decided in 1999 to come to America to learn English and experience life here. As time went on, my English improved, and so did the jobs I had. By 2021 I was lucky to hold a position as an executive assistant to a CEO and EVP for a nonprofit organization. I loved the job and the people I worked with. During the two years I spent with the company I grew tremendously, as an employee and as a person. The way I was treated, the positive feedback I received, awoke the courageous person sleeping and hiding in me…
With a broken heart I decided to resign from my position to become a full-time mom and take care of the children. My youngest has cerebral palsy. He has difficulties walking independently and was the main reason for my decision.
One day, soon after quitting my job, I got the idea to write about my life. Nothing was done for a year. I was not ready to sit and write until January 2023. I am still in the process of creating my first book, and what a journey it is! Since I started to write, I have discovered how much joy writing and creating gives me. It has become my passion. It has become my work. It is a big part of my life now.
It is just the beginning, though, and I cannot wait to see what the future will bring me…
